Q: What causes my water to smell like rotten eggs? Is it harmful? How can I get rid of it?

A: If its only on the hot water, chances are it the Magnesium or Anode rod in your hot water tank. If it is removed, the smell should go away. If the smell is on the hot and cold water this usually indicates that the well has an iron bacteria in it which is not harmful but annoying. We can rid of that smell easily and effectively with the proper equipment.

Q: Will a water softener remove iron in my water, so I won’t have rust stains on my fixtures and clothing?

A: A water softener will remove a certain amount of iron from your well water. We generally recommend adding a combination softener/iron remover for iron levels over 1.5 ppm’s of iron or a separate iron remover for iron levels higher than 7 ppm’s of iron. A complete water test by performed by H2-Oh! Specialists will determine the correct sizing.
